Coach Bio

Name: Tyrel Wyard-Scott

Team: U15 AAA

Hockey career highlights:

Playing in the U15 Director’s Cup in Manitoba, City Champions U15AA in Winnipeg, earning a silver medal with the U18AA Oilers in Sherwood Park, and playing for Rick Swan for the U16AAA Squires in Sherwood Park. For Coaching, I have enjoyed being a part of 2 Alberta Cup and 1 Alberta Winter Games Coaching Staffs. I’ve coached 11 Seasons and there are special memories from each one of them; there is nothing better than being “coach”.

Coaching Philosophy:

Success is measured not just by win/loss records, but also by the progression and development of the individual both as a hockey player and as a human being. Regardless of the level of hockey being played an appropriate amount of time will be committed to skill development, conditioning, and understanding of the game.  Players will be taught to be accountable for their attitude, their work ethic, their level of compete and for their respect for the game, their family, and their community. Habits will be developed through repetition and progression, and through the development of these good habits, systems more easily executed resulting in on and off ice successes being achieved. Above all else, the character of each individual within the team creates a character team, which is what I attribute to the true success of any team.

Favorite Hockey quote:

“For the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack.”

What are you most looking forward to next season?

Every season has it’s challenges, and there is nothing more fulfilling than overcoming them as a group, all putting the ‘WE’ before the ‘me’. Meeting new players and families, and going through the Journey, bringing our ‘very best’ day-in and day-out, together fills me with excitement for what’s to come!
